About Our Eye Clinic in Niagara Falls

Dr. Laurie Capogna is a doctor of optometry and the founder of Eye Wellness. Her mission is to educate and inspire her patients, the public, and the eye care community about the power of nutrition and lifestyle in ocular health. She regularly presents educational lectures and articles on eye health and nutrition and has co-authored 2 best-selling books on these subjects: Eyefoods: A Food Plan for Healthy Eyes and Eyefoods for Kids: A Tasty Guide to Nutrition and Eye Health.

She is further distinguished in the field of optometry by her receipt of the Women In Optometry Award for Innovation in 2016.

Dr. Capogna received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 1998. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, the College of Optometrists of Ontario, and the Ocular Nutrition Society.

Dr. Beckers loves helping patients see clearly and comfortably while improving their overall quality of life. She takes the time to explain every step of care and is known for her honest, clear communication and personal attention. She has a special interest in scleral lenses and dry eye care.

Dr. Beckers earned her BSc in Biomedical Sciences (Honours) and her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo. She completed externships in Niagara Falls and Alabama and volunteered with VOSH, including a trip to Peru providing vision care to underserved communities. She is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists.

When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll find her running, practicing hot yoga, reading, or keeping up with her two energetic young sons.

Mary has been part of the Eye Wellness team for 10 years, bringing 40 years of experience in patient care and office administration. Friendly and welcoming, she helps patients navigate their appointments and ensures every visit runs smoothly.

With a BA in Business and Sociology from Brock University, Mary finds the most fulfillment in helping people solve problems, supporting her team, and keeping a full schedule running efficiently.

Jessica loves helping patients find glasses that not only improve their vision but also make them feel confident and comfortable. She takes the time to listen to each person’s needs, making sure every pair of glasses fits their lifestyle and personality.

Jessica holds an Honours BSc from McMaster University, completed her opticianry training at Georgian College, and furthered her skills with the NAIT Optician Refracting program in 2018. 

When she isn’t helping patients, Jessica enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family!

Elissa listens carefully to patients to understand their needs, ensuring they are happy and excited about their new glasses. She enjoys helping patients find frames that reflect their personality and lifestyle while explaining the details of their eye health.

Elissa has a BMSc in Medical Science with Honours in Pharmacology from Western University (2025) and has been in her current position for 2 years.

Saira is friendly, attentive, and detail-oriented, always going the extra mile to make sure every patient feels cared for. She takes particular joy in helping patients find the perfect pair of glasses that not only improve their vision but also give them confidence when they wear them.

Saira earned her MBBS from LUMHS in 2003 and completed her undergraduate science degree at St. Joseph’s in 1996. She finds the most fulfillment in listening to patients’ needs and providing personalized care that makes a real difference in their day-to-day lives.

Nancy is a caring and compassionate listener who loves helping patients achieve both the vision they need and the look they want. She takes pride in ensuring every patient leaves the office seeing clearly and feeling confident. Nancy also enjoys getting to know patients personally, connecting over topics like grandchildren, sports, or shared hobbies.

Nancy has been with Eye Wellness since 2008, bringing 17 years of experience in the optometry field. She earned her CCOA certification from the Canadian Association of Optometrists in 2014. What she finds most fulfilling is meeting and helping people who truly appreciate the care they receive, and building long-lasting relationships along the way.

Lina loves getting to know each patient and sharing her knowledge to help them make informed decisions about their eye care. She values building strong relationships with patients and enjoys being part of a team where everyone supports one another.

Lina has been with Eye Wellness for 10 years and has 10 years of experience in the industry. She holds a BA in Sociology from McMaster University (1992) and completed Medical Office Assistant training at Trillium College (2012).

What Lina finds most fulfilling is creating a welcoming environment where the staff feels like a family, helping patients solve their vision needs, and constantly learning about new technology and products. Being part of a team of like-minded individuals makes her work especially rewarding.

Danielle treats every patient with warmth and care, approaching each elder like she would her own grandmother and welcoming everyone like a guest in her home. With 4 and a half years of experience, she brings incredible skill and compassion to everything she does.

Danielle is certified in permanent artistry from Forever Young Spa (2013), trained in eyelash extensions (2013), and completed tattoo removal training at Elimink Toronto (2014). She finds the most joy in learning about eye health, using her hands to repair frames, and helping patients feel comfortable and cared for during every visit.

Carmela makes it her mission to listen closely to each patient’s requests and concerns, ensuring they leave satisfied with their experience. Even though she has been with Eye Wellness for a short time, she brings 13 years of experience in the industry and a dedication to making every interaction positive.

Carmela completed Grade 12 at A.N. MYER (1983) and earned a Hairstylist certificate from the Career School of Hairdressing (1984). What she finds most fulfilling is interacting with patients and having a meaningful, positive impact on their day.
